Seized Vehicle Auctions

February 20, 2010 · Filed Under Automotive, Cars, News · Comments Off

Seized vehicle auctions are the ideal means of getting the car of your dreams at really low prices. Seized vehicle auctions are the type of car sale wherein the cars being sold are those that were repossessed. There would be no need for you to worry about the legalities of this type of trade.

It has been a common practice of the government to hold a public auction for all sorts of property that have been repossessed. Among these properties are cars, homes, and even airplanes and yachts that were taken back, impounded, or confiscated mostly due to failure on the part of the owners to pay for them. It costs a lot of money for the government just to store and keep those things maintained. Therefore, they prefer to get rid of those properties as soon as possible to cut back on their costs and they do so through seized vehicle auctions. Read more

SUV Deals at Auctions

If you have not checked it out yet, SUV deals at auctions are a great place to find your dream vehicle. You have a better chance of finding a vehicle in a newer state than at usual resellers – probably only a year or two old. If you think that tops it, you will probably freak out knowing that the bidding may start as low as $100.

You may wonder how SUV deals at auctions like these are possible. The reason why the government can afford to sell them cheap is because it actually costs them more to keep and maintain them. The units are mostly acquired by repossessing them from people who do not remit taxes, default from loan payments, and cases of fraud. Sometimes, they are taken from some illegal activity taken – usually from drug trafficking or smuggling. An auction like this is a centralized collection of vehicles coming from various law enforcement agencies, such as the DEA, police, FBI, and in some cases, the IRS. Read more

How Do Custom Custom Rims AffectAffect the Performance of Your Vehicle?

February 5, 2010 · Filed Under Automotive, Cars, Repair and Maintenance · Comments Off

I have owned many different vehicles in my life and did not begin customizing them with rims and tires until around 2006. My first set of custom rims were a set of 24 inch rims that I put on my 2006 Dodge Charger. I fell in love so quickly that I have never had a car or truck without rims on it ever since.

I think what I love about riding around on over sized rims and tires so much is the attention and stares that they garner. There is just something about having a set of big chrome wheels on your car that makes people stop and stare. However, about two months into enjoying my rims I began to notice that there were certain things about having rims on my car that were not so beneficial to the overall performance of my vehicle.

On of the first problems that I began to notice was that the wheel well on my car was far too small for the size rims that I had placed on it. I could not continue to ride around on these rims every day. The solution was to simply drive more carefully. I could not go over as many speed bumps and I had to be very weary of pot holes. If you are a practical kind of person, you would not mind shopping for SUV deals at auctions. If you even think about it, you are probably even getting a better deal. The moment you buy a brand new vehicle and leave the showroom, it automatically depreciates by at least 20%, while purchasing a second one levels off at the price you already got it. This is, of course, in exception to getting it from an auction. Prices here may be very cheap, and the only drawback is that you do not have a warranty with it. That is why it is recommended that you bring along a mechanic when you decide on a certain vehicle. Since the conditions of the sale are as-is, you cannot go back to them complaining about something it incurs afterward. Read more

Safety Tips – Attaching and Driving Truck Trailers

November 28, 2009 · Filed Under Tips and Tricks, trucks · Comments Off

Pulling a trailer with your vehicle requires a lot of planning and precautions. You must make sure that the trailer you are pulling is in working condition for the road. After all, when you are on the road not only do have to look out for yourself but also for the safety of others.

When looking for a trailer for sale, remember to look for some very important details. First, a trailer puts extra weight on the vehicle, so look for a trailer that is meant for the vehicle type you will be using. After deciding what size of trailer your vehicle can haul, there are a few other things you must look for. Start by checking the ware and tear of the tires if they are not new. Then check for correct tire pressure. The hitch and safety chains should be well inspected to make sure they attach properly. The brakes also need to be looked over for good working condition. (Not all trailers come equipped with brakes. It depends on the size and capacity of the trailer.) Finally, the trailer has to be licensed and registered before it can be taken out on the road. How to Replace Suspension Bushings

November 28, 2009 · Filed Under Repair and Maintenance · Comments Off

This job requires a tube of lube, a vice or clamps, jack stands, a floor jack, a torque wrench, a flat head screwdriver, open end wrenches, something to catch gas, and a receptacle for brake fluid.

In order to reach the suspension bushings, you must drop the entire suspension assembly. Jack up the vehicle, placing it securely on adequate jack stands. Place a floor jack in the middle of the beam under the suspension and jack it up to help support the weight. Once the vehicle is suspended, you can safely disconnect the shock absorbers near the bottom. Then, remove any related bolts so that the suspension can drop. Lower the suspension assembly and the jack slowly Read more

Used 5th Wheels So Cheap You’ll Look For the Pop Up

November 21, 2009 · Filed Under RV · Comments Off

One of the greatest things about a 5th wheel is that you can disconnect it and use your own vehicle at your destination. You don’t have to worry about towing it into small areas. However, a new 5th wheel can really put a dent in your savings account. Here’s how to find used 5th wheels at tremendously discounted prices.

The “Usual” Sources

Normally, people start looking in the local classifieds or Craigslist. While you might find a deal or two here, you really haven’t a clue who is selling the unit. As you might know from previous purchases, sellers aren’t always up front and honest about problems. You could end up with one that you don’t notice until you get it home.

Dealers are another option. Many stock previously owned units. However, with the economy faltering, sales are not as good as they once were. In order to try to recoup some of their losses, many dealers are marking up the prices of these used 5th wheels. There is a better way to find a great deal and without all the questions about the condition. Read more
