The Ford Prodigy hybrid has an improved power train that combines two separate propulsion systems – the small energy-efficient diesel engine and the AC electric drive system with automatic shift manual (ASM) transmission.

The electric system helps the internal combustion engine when it is required to supply the extra power during acceleration. It regains the energy that is lost during acceleration through the arrangement called regenerative braking. In regenerative braking system, when the brakes are applied to stop the car, the produced kinetic energy from friction is supplied to the battery of the car. This energy is stored in the battery for future use. Thus, whenever, the brakes are applied, the battery gets charged. The direct injection aluminum through-bolt assembly (DIATA) diesel engine of Ford Prodigy is 35% more efficient than the conventional petrol engines. This engine consists of four cylinders, 1.2 liter, and direct injection and generates 74PS at around 4100 rpm. There is a starter alternator – the high power small electric motor fitted between the engine and the transmission. This motor delivers the additional power of 47 PS when required. With the combination of this extra power, the car generates a total of 121 PS power.

Ford Prodigy is a light weight vehicle that gives you a pleasing performance as compared to other vehicles of Ford. With the combination of the combustion engine and the alternator starter, the car is closest to perfection. When the car is stopped, the engine is automatically turned off and it restarts within 0.2 seconds as you touch the accelerator pedal of the car. Due to the two power sources, the car saves much of the fuel and has become the preferred choice of the people buying the car for better fuel efficiency. The car has a striking aerodynamic design. This has helped to enhance the beauty of the car and reduce the air resistance. The dragging coefficient of the car is 0.199 which improves the fuel economy of the car. The side view mirrors are replaced by the onboard monitors and side mounted cameras. Cameras offer the required side view to the driver without blocking the airflow. The Ford Prodigy hybrid is a fuel-efficient car with good features and engine specifications. You can definitely go for the car if it has caught your fancy and you are thinking of buying it.

The first car to be produced by Fiat was the 3 CV with a 697cc engine. Only eight were constructed. Volvo is heading east to China after owner Ford announced that Geely won pole position in buying the struggling manufacturer.

Ford said that despite some work yet to do, the deal is likely to be finalised in the spring. Now the green light has been given, the future of Volvo and the launch of promising upcoming models such as the S60 should ‘fingers crossed’ be secure.

Following the well executed sale of Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin, Volvo is the last of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group brands to move on. Despite the sad move across the world, the sale to Geely will give them a vital foothold in the European market and while some believe china at only good at inventing chopsticks and fireworks, the move will greatly benefit the Chinese firm as Volvo’s research and development expertise and engineering skills will be a huge advantage, as its main interests are in improved quality and safety. In their defence the Chinese are already renowned for their safety in cars, therefore for Volvo to move over; it’s a very wise move and i have no doubt that this will be a positive and successful transition, moving Volvo forward to hopefully drive sales and generate a generous return on investment, after years of wallowing in a floundering business.
