For some people, a car is just a car. It is nothing more than a means to get from one place to another. There are others, however, that view automobiles, especially classics, with a passion and fervor. They do not just drive their cars; they collect them, restore them and show them off with the kind of pride generally reserved for new parents.
What is it that drives classic car enthusiasts into this hobby and what are the rewards of doing so?
Motivations for individual collectors can actually cover a host of reasons. Some people get into the hobby to realize a childhood dream to own a particular make and model. Others are simply in love with the artistry and engineering of classic cars. They revel in owning and driving their own pieces of history. There are even others who find the financial rewards of owning and restoring a classic are incredibly appealing. While it is certainly true that not all restored classics are worth a small fortune, there are many that are. (more…)
As if you didn’t already know, there are plenty of ways that you can ruin your car. Most people fail to reach a complete stop before shifting, never ever use their parking brake, and tend to keep driving on E. Add more life and value to your vehicle and try not to make these common everyday mistakes that will without a doubt end up completely ruining your car.
1. If you are parked on a slight incline, you are putting all of the stress on your car and its transmission if fail to make use of your parking brake. You must know that the only thing keeping the car steady is a one tiny pin called a parking pawl. When you utilize the parking brake, you lock up the non-drive wheels and the driving wheels. Thus, the stress is taken off of your vehicle’s transmission. Multiple years are taken off the life of your transmission and your car if you never use your parking break. So if you don’t know where it is find it, know it, and use it whenever necessary. (more…)
Quite often, luxury cars are some of those things we dream of owning, even though they seem far out of reach from the realm of what’s realistic. Others are fortunate enough to buy and enjoy these finely crafted vehicles.
Whatever the case may be in your situation, I’d like to take a few moments to recognize some great luxury vehicles that might be fun to either dream about or own. Let’s take a look at some of the hottest cars in today’s high end market.
1. The Nissan GT-R. Priced at roughly $70,000, this is a great deal when you consider what you’re getting for your dollar as compared to other autos in the same price range. Many people compare this to the Porsche 911 turbo, and the fact that it does 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds should tell you all about the capability behind this finely crafted engine. (more…)

If you, like many, drive around many of the UK’s cities you need to find a car that is economical and comfortable to drive. Even in the “city car” category there are plenty of cars from the leading companies available.
The Alfa Romeo TS Collezione is a popular choice amongst city drivers as the general set up of the car makes for a comfortable drive. There is plenty of space for the driver and passengers, with the steering wheel and seat being height adjustable the driver can find their optimum driving position. The car has everything a driver needs to sit comfortably when stuck in the rush hour traffic and the smallest detail has been taken care of from the fabrics to the redesigned headrest.
The TS Collezione has a trip computer that offers the driver detailed information about the most recent or current journey. This information includes fuel consumption, average speed, remaining fuel and trip mileage. These details allow the driver to drive more economically which should help reduce motoring costs in the long term. With 34.4 miles per gallon (MPG) the Alfa Romeo TS Collezione is also reasonably good on fuel. (more…)
Here are 2 cars you may consider and a run down of some of their features;
Volvo S80
The Volvo S80 is a great car to choose and has quite an array of cold weather features that come as standard. These include traction control, front and rear fog lights and rain sensing windshield wipers (which need no manual adjustment). Rear window defrosters with a timer are very useful for when the temperature plummets and you need to clear condensation or ice from your windows.
As well as the standard features there are also optional extras you can choose when you purchase the Volvo S80. These extras include heated front and rear seats which can come in very handy if you are stuck in traffic on the way home from work when it is minus four degrees outside. However you should consider the extras carefully as these add to the overall cost of the car. (more…)
As of November 2009 Cash for Clunkers approved just under 700,000 vouchers to pay out to participants. This amount accumulates to a staggering $2.8 billion being paid out since the beginning of this program.
But what does this number mean to the consumer? This article briefly analyzes the individual person behind one of those 700,000 vouchers, what decisions did the person have to consider in order to partake in this program, and was it a success overall? (more…)
Before you start the process of searching for your first car there are many factors to consider before finalising anything.
Aside from the cost of insurance which is always considerably higher for younger drivers, there is also the question of how you are going to maintain it. You may want to opt for a used car as you are likely to get a good deal on price if you find the right car at the right place and can negotiate effectively. The money you could save in comparison to buying new, plus any depreciation you may have suffered, could potentially be put to alternate use. (more…)

Unfortunately for British manufacturers they are lagging behind their European counterparts in Portugal, Spain and Denmark. Some of the car manufacturers have cut emissions by around five times more than the worst performing manufacturers which is a huge amount considering the need for each EU country to reduce the amount of CO2 their cars are emitting.
BMW are doing especially well from the cars that were sold during 2008 with them cutting emission levels by over 10% (the only manufacturer to hit double figures). One of the reasons they have done so well is that they have introduced efficiency methods into all their ranges. This is something that environmentalists are all urging other manufacturers to do in an attempt to reduce the average emission levels. (more…)
