Top Tips For Buying a Used Volkswagen Beetle
Looking to buy a used Volkswagen Beetle? Not too long ago I was on the search myself. Here’s a little bit about how I found my fun little car and what I did to find it.
Searching Online:
My first step was to start searching for cars on Auto Trader which is a Canadian website since I’m in Canada. I’m sure the US must have something similar that you can search if that’s where you live. I was looking for Volkswagens but in the beginning I wasn’t to picky on whether I wanted a Jetta or Beetle. I was also considering a Golf.
As I got out there to look around I really started to love the idea of owning a Beetle. I remember Herbie the love bug and I always wanted my own Beetle when I grew up.
Timing Belt Issue:
Most of the cars I went to look at my boyfriend came with. Now I don’t know much about cars or bargaining for a good used car price so he was doing all the talking for me.
One thing we often came across was that the salesmen at used car dealerships couldn’t tell us if the timing belt had been changed. According to what I’ve been told the belt needs changing at about 150k and we needed to find out for sure that it already HAD been changed or I would be looking at about $700 or so to have that done after I buy the car. Choosing a Van For Your Business
This may be stating the obvious, but when choosing a van for your business you need to pick one that meets the specific requirements of your particular business.
Size is important though bigger is not always better and you would be surprised at the number of people who buy a van that is actually bigger than they really need. That is just throwing your money away so buying a smaller vehicle is often a wise move. Of course you may occasionally need to carry extra large loads, demanding bigger capacity. But it is far cheaper to hire a van for those rare occasions than to purchase a large vehicle to begin with. Similarly it makes no sense at all to acquire a van that is too small. So work out the the size of van your business requires, and purchase one that fits those requirements. Read more
Used Ferrari – It Has Become Easier to Afford One
Ferrari was founded way back in 1929 but believe it or not the original plan wasn’t to produce road legal vehicles. In fact at the beginning Ferrari sponsored drivers and produced racing cars very much like they do today in Formula 1. Enzo Ferrari was very reluctant to design and manufacture a Ferrari that was road legal but over the past few decades it has enabled thousands of people to own and drive a supercar.
In recent years it has become easier in terms of affordability to own a Ferrari. This is mainly because more people have purchased a Ferrari and eventually these cars are sold onto the second hand car market. Don’t be fooled though second hand Ferraris are still more expensive than most new cars produced by other manufacturers even the likes of Mercedes Benz and Porsche. One of the most affordable Ferrari’s is the Modena priced at around £40,000 depending on the age and condition of the car. However certain pre-owned Ferrari’s have actually increased in price due to the limited number of models that were made. Used Ferrari’s don’t depreciate that much which is great news in some ways for second hand owners because you could sell the car a few years later with a limited amount of loss. Read more

How to Avoid Becoming Involved in a Car Accident
Accidents are an unfortunate part of owning and driving a car. You do not need to be a helpless victim! There are a number of safe driving habits you can practice every day to keep yourself and your passengers safe on the road.
1. Keep Your Eyes on the Road. It is tempting to watch the scenery passing you while driving, but safety should be your first priority. By watching the road in front of you and what is happening behind you through the rear view mirror, you will always be prepared.
2. Leave Yourself an Out. Place your vehicle where your safety is not determined by other drivers. Do not let yourself be boxed in by other cars, instead leave yourself a place to swerve if it becomes necessary.
3. Be Especially Cautious When Driving During Twilight. The time directly before sunset offers the most opportunity for a crash. It is difficult to see what is happening around you and other drivers are probably tired from a long day at work. Make sure your lights are on and always use your turn signals.
4. Your Reactions Are Slower When You Are Tired. Your vision and reaction time are distorted when you are tired, making it easier for you to cause or be part of a crash. If you feel tired, try getting out of the car and walking around for a few minutes. The best option when you are tired is to pull over and find a place to rest. Coffee, soda and other caffeinated options are no replacement for rest. Read more
