Recently many people have asked me about buying used cars online. When Ebay or Yahoo auctions are there why one should go for local dealers is a 64M$ question.
Used car business has been here since the start of auto industry. Japan started mass production of automotives for private as well as commercial use between 1940-1950, but the actual history is much older since 1911. Used Japanese cars became popular in late 1970’s when Toyota and Nissan emerged as global leaders in the car making industry. There have been constant demand since then, because compactness and fuel efficiency were the major factors for the popularity in Japanese cars.

Wood pellets as a source of alternative energy over the usual non renewable fossil fuels have been gaining lots of interest all over the planet. As an interesting point, heating systems designed in particular for the use of sawdust pellets are now generally available in the markets of some states across the globe. It is assumed that sawdust pellets as a wood fuel ( a type of biofuel ) is better than any other sorts of fuel. In fact, it can be compared to top quality coal and other similar goods.

Wood fuels which include fuel derived from sawdust pellets release lesser amount of ashes and emissions that are harmful to the environment and to humans. So , it doesn’t total up to the problem of global warming.  Convenient

Winter is here and where I live, in Finland, we have just had our first snow with many drivers navigating icy roads on plain summer tires. I was doing a 50 mile trip yesterday, mostly on small rural roads where the snow is not yet spoiled by salt and heavy traffic, and I thought to myself: It’s not really that dangerous or difficult to drive on slippery roads as long as you know what to do and when. You just have to adopt a different driving style and you’ll be as safe as on dry summer roads. The danger is when you apply a summer driving style to winter roads.

Rule #1: Slow Down

Don’t expect to reach the same speeds on a winter road as you do in the summer. Plan you trip to take longer and if you drive long hours in dark, limited visibility conditions up north plan some more stops to rest. Continue reading ‘Driving During Winter – 7 Tips That Keeps You on the Road’ »

Gas is getting more and more expensive and if you have a long commute or if you just like to drive, the gas bill can become a burden.

Luckily there are a lot of ways to save gas without investing in a new car or in snake oil add-on kits. I’ll show you seven ways that are commonly available and easy to do.

1. MAINTAIN HIGH ENOUGH TIRE PRESSURE

Driving with under inflated tires is not only dangerous as the tires could overheat, it also uses more gas than inflated tires.

Inflate the tires to the maximum allowed by your cars manuals, and periodically check the pressure using a good pressure gauge.

Many hypermilers inflate their tires more than that, to the maximum pressure printed on the sidewalls of the tires themselves. This is often as much as 50 percent more than what the car manufacturer recommends and it will give additional gas savings due to lesser rolling resistance. When a builder buys a home you can bet that it wont have termites or a weak foundation. When a mechanic shops for a car a similar expectation is there but there is more at work than a simple inspection of the vehicle. When a mechanic shops for a car he must evaluate the seller and history of the car as the biggest indication of what to buy and what to avoid.

Every car requires maintenance in order to run properly and every car owner has a different idea what “maintenance” means. By asking informed questions of the seller you can often determine if the car has been serviced regularly. This is why a car might have a slightly higher perceived value if it has only had one owner. If this person has taken care of the car well, then you have found a used car that has been well maintained for its entire life – and this is a good thing.
