When choosing a motorcycle tachometer there is a vast selection of manufacturers to choose from. Autometer tachometers are a brand that is well known amongst both motorcycle and car racing buffs. The other majoro manufacturers of tachs are: Pro1, Shindy, Dakota Digital gauges and Lightning Performance. Each of these companies makes a quality Tach for bikes.

Autometer makes Tach’s for cars and has expanded to making them for motor cycles as well. This line is called Pro-Cycle. When it comes to choosing the right Tach it is important to keep in mind the application that you are going to use it for. An easy choice is a digital Shindy unite. They are fairly easy to install and have a range of up too 19,000 RPM. Since most bikes have high revving engines it is important to find one that suits your application.

Autometer Tachometers are mostly electronic and come in a variety of sizes and variations. There is bound to be one that suits your application. Autometer also makes tachometers that have integrated shift lights or you can buy the shift light kit by itself. In order to use a shift light you will also need a RPM activated module and a RPM Pill module kit. You can also choose from a black or white face as well as the diameter of the gauge.

Pro1 RPM Gauges are made to be integrated in to the riser of the bike they are to go on. Pro One makes several kits that are mostly geared towards metric cruisers. The Gauge is encased in a Billet Aluminum housing which is then either polished or ball milled for show quality looks.

Dakota Digital Tachometers are a multifunctional digital gauge that can be switched from voltmeter, oil pressure, water temp or oil temperature as well as fuel level or air pressure readings depending on the model. These are the types of gauges you generally see on custom choppers. They are bullet shaped and quite small. Dakota digital gauges usually easily mount on to your handlebars.

Shindy makes electronic and digital tachometer gauges for motor cycles. Both electronic tachometers by Shindy come in a black case with a white face. You can either choose a 15 or 18,000 RPM model. The other Shindy is a digital tach that is very compact and will work with virtually any model bike except for those with point ignition systems, Honda V-type 4-cylinder models (VFR750F and Honda Magna).

Lightning Performance makes a pretty cool looking electronic tachometer. I am currently of currently aware of 3 different Lightning Performance tach’s. They are all micro gauges and are easily mounted on to a handlebar. They integrate very well in to most motor cycles lines. Lightning Performance Electronic tachometers are CNC machined from a 5 lb brick of billet aluminum which is then chrome plated for a show quality finish.

The most important thing to keep in mind when choosing a tachometer whether its a electronic or digital tachometer is to find one that has the right RPM’s for your cycle. Looks are definitely also a factor, however most of your aftermarkets RPM Gauges are pretty stylish so the only real question is electronic or digital?

Motorcycle trips can be a wonderful experience for any rider especially if that trip involves beautiful scenery, a great route with perfect roads, and perfect weather. They can also become a nightmare if you find yourself to be improperly equipped and unprepared to handle any type of weather situation that may occur. One of my favorite trips took place in Tennessee and extended southeast to western North Carolina. Throughout this trip I was able to see some of the most beautiful countryside that Tennessee and North Carolina have to offer. The mountains and rolling rocky landscape all seemed so surreal to me when comparing them to the primarily flat agricultural landscape that exists in the upper Midwestern state of Wisconsin.
The days started out cool and crisp and I found myself doubting that I had dressed appropriately as I felt the chill of the morning air run through me. My long sleeve shirt and light neoprene jacket combo didn”t quite seem to be doing the trick. The shorty motorcycle helmet I was wearing also proved inadequate as the cool air whipped past my neck and ears, contributing to the chill that was flowing through my body. I had packed my full face motorcycle helmet, but it was strapped to the luggage rack on the back of my motorcycle, and there wouldn”t be a stop for quite some time. Just when I thought I would have to pull over on my own to switch helmets, and possibly throw on a heavier jacket, the coolness seemed to subside and the warm air would start to flow in. Finally, I began to feel relief from the coolness that the morning had brought on. I had learned an important lesson about the mornings in this type of landscape, and that is that you should not dress based on the temperature that is forecasted because the low lying areas surrounding the mountains tend to be much cooler. Perhaps the right thing to do would have been to start out the morning trip wearing a heavier jacket and a full face helmet, or at least a heavier jacket and maybe a face mask to accompany the half helmet.
We continued on our journey up and around and through the massive hills of the Blue Ridge Parkway, twisting and turning every couple hundred feet, or so it seemed. I was not used to this type of riding since the roads traveled closer to home consist primarily of a straight stretch and then a corner which brings you around the backside of a cornfield to yet another straight stretch. I was mesmerized by the cliffs and bluffs and I sometimes found myself drifting to the side of the road as a gazed out over the hillsides. As we descended down toward the bottom of the Parkway I could see off in the distance a group of dark storm clouds. It was at that point I realized that I had forgotten to pack my rain gear when we left camp that morning and I could be in for a good soaking. Luckily, the clouds had moved off before we reached them and we were saved from having to ride in the rain and possibly delay our trip in order to take shelter from bad weather. I realized that from then on it would be best to leave my rain gear in the saddlebag where it belongs.
We put on over 1100 miles during the trip to Tennessee and it proved to be one of my most enjoyable trips. I was able to see some of the most beautiful country that the eastern United States has to offer. I also had the privilege of enjoying the company of some great fellow riders throughout the entire journey, and I took home some valuable lessons about being prepared for a motorcycle trip. One of the most important lessons I learned is that you can never be too prepared and you should always consider every possibility when it comes to riding your motorcycle. Always take a few moments to make sure you have everything you need for the ride that day. Consider whether or not you have the right equipment, for example, a full face helmet or a half helmet. If you”re going to be traveling in cooler temperatures, a full face helmet will offer more protection from the wind and cold air. If there is any rain in the forecast, make sure you have your rain gear packed. Taking these few precautionary steps will help to make your next trip, wherever that may be a much more enjoyable one.

Imagine the thought of your loved ones receiving the terrible news of your fatal accident and how it could have been prevented if you were wearing a motorcycle helmet. Motorcycle helmets are one of the most important pieces of safety equipment that you can have when you ride a motorcycle. The length of the trip is completely irrelevant because you simply never know when an accident could occur. Why take the risk? Sure it might mess up your hair, or it may not look cool to some people, but at least you’ll be safer than if you weren’t wearing one. Plus, chances are you’ll save your loved ones from having to deal with all of the emotional pain and suffering as well.

Motorcycle helmets come in a variety of shapes, sizes, styles, and colors, which means that choosing the right one for you can sometimes be quite confusing. The important thing to remember is that you should always look for helmets that meet DOT standards and specifications. No, this does not mean that the DOT approves the helmet. It simply means that the helmet meets or exceeds the minimum safety standards set forth by the DOT and will help in protecting you in the event of a crash. DOT motorcycle helmets are often times required in some cases. One example would be if you are going to take a riders course to get your motorcycle license. More often than not you will be required to bring your own DOT motorcycle helmet. Another motorcycle helmet characteristic to consider when making a purchase is the material that the helmet is composed of. A good solid helmet will be made of fiber-reinforced composites (fiberglass) or a thermoplastic like polycarbonate. Regular old plastic helmets will not do the trick. If you’re not sure what the helmet is made of, here is a simple test that you can try out to get an idea if the helmet is good enough to buy. Turn the helmet over, grab the edges of the shell just below the ear pockets, and pull outward with both hands. A strong helmet should not bow easily. If it does, you probably should try out a different helmet.

Time and time again I hear about motorcycle crashes that resulted in fatality because the rider wasn’t wearing a helmet. It’s true, helmets are not a guaranteed life saver, but the do help in protecting one of your greatest assets, your head. If you’re worried about look and comfort, don’t sweat it, millions of others have faced the same dilemma, and have made the right decision by choosing to wear a motorcycle helmet whenever they ride.

Everyone wants to drive a fast automobile! Driving fast gives pleasure to some. And other reason is to get anywhere in time!! With very short time available in the present busy world it has become mandatory for all of us to reach our destinations at the earliest possible! As a result, up-gradation of the car engine will give extra ordinary results. The best way to improve the performance quality of your ride is to install the performance chip. They increase the overall performance of the engine there by giving more power output. The engine performance chip is one of the new developments in the automobile industry and the most promising invention!!!

The performance chips are developed after research for a decade. The product is by well trained and professional experts. Thus one can be sure of the quality and performance of the product and there will not be any adverse effect on the engine or other parts. They are designed to throw out the hidden power of your automobile. These are computer chips which controls the activities of the engine based on the program loaded. The product can revolutionize the automobile industry.

There are many advantages of using car performance chip. One great advantage is, there is no need to go around the engine bay with a screw driver! No alteration in engine is required. Horsepower chips are very easy to install. An instruction guide is given along with the product which helps one through the installation process. A simple home tool kit will be sufficient to install it. By this, even a naïve user will be able to install it. This is one of the major factors which make the performance chip a great product.

The car performance chip unleashes the complete power potential of the car. One important point to note is performance chip is not general product. Performance chip suiting one car model will not support the car model. So when ecu chip is purchased make sure that it is designed for your car. These chips can increase the power of your car by at least 20 and to a maximum of 50 hp. To be technical the performance chips monitor the air-fuel ratio to the engine and makes sure that the power output is always maximum. This also ensures that the fuel efficiency is also high. To enjoy the maximum benefit use high performance spark plugs, intakes, supercharges, power chips, power modules, exhausts, along with the ecu chips. This would further increase the power output.

Thus if you are owning an old car and wish you could have more power then you must install the horsepower chip. You can feel the difference in power transmission almost instantly. So you need not lug to the lower gears when you need more power. The engine performance chip boosts up the overall performance of the engine. Now, there is no reason for you to wait to get the performance chip and deprive yourself from driving in the fast lane. Step on the accelerator and enjoy maximum power with the car performance chip!

hen it comes to choosing the right motorcycle helmet, it’s hard to decide which shape, style, and size is going to best fit your needs. Because there so many different types of helmets available today, it’s important that you research the pros and cons of each type of helmet, consider the features of each motorcycle helmet style, and then weigh all of those factors in when determining which helmet is the right one for you.

So what are the pros and cons of each motorcycle helmet style? Well there are so many that if we decided to discuss each and every detail about every type of helmet, we would be here for days. So let’s stick to the basics and talk briefly about the major categories of motorcycle helmets which are full face helmets, three quarter shell helmets, and half shell helmets.

Full face helmets cover the entire head and face and offer the most protection of all motorcycle helmet types. The full face helmet shell starts from the base of the neck and extends all the way over the head to the lower portion of the chin and then wraps around the sides of the head to provide maximum coverage. An opening on the front of the helmet which extends from ear to ear allows the rider to see out of the helmet. This opening is covered by a plastic shield which can be lifted up to remain open or closed completely to provide maximum protection for the eyes. When closed, the shield also protects the face from over exposure to wind and cold as well as flying debris. In the event of an accident, the full face helmet will offer more protection to your head because your entire head would be covered. Another type of full face helmet is the modular or flip-up helmet. Like the traditional full face helmet, the modular helmet has a plastic shield which covers the opening over your eyes. The modular helmet has an added feature of being able to flip up the front portion of the helmet which covers the face. This provides extra ventilation to the face and head which cannot be provided by the traditional full face helmet.

Three quarter shell helmets cover the entire head except for the face which offers less protection than the full face helmet. The shell extends from the base of the neck over the top of the head to just above the brow line. The shell then extends down the sides of the face just below the ears and the wraps around the sides of the head. Most three quarter shell helmets are equipped with three metal snaps located just above the brow line on the exterior of the helmet. These snaps are used for fastening removable face shields which extend from the brow line to just below the chin. The shields provide similar functionality to that of the front of the full face helmet, but there is less protection because the helmet shell does not wrap completely around the head and face. The shield, when used properly, does offer protection from flying debris, excess wind, and cold temperatures. Three quarter helmet shields can be easily adjusted to sit in an upright position, completely exposing the face, or in a downward position which provides the most protection as described above.

Finally, the half shell helmets cover only the upper half of the head and provide the least amount of protection, but the most amount of freedom when it comes to helmet coverage. The shell extends from the top of the neck over the top of the head to just above the brow line, and then wraps around the sides of the head just above the ears. The half helmet shell provides the most exposure to wind, which if you are riding in warmer temperatures, may be more beneficial to the overall comfort of the rider. Some half shell helmets come with a removable visor which can be used to protect the eyes of the rider. The half shell helmet provides for the most freedom, and is less confining than full face helmets or three quarter helmets.

Each helmet style has distinct features and characteristics that are separate from the others. Full face helmets cover the entire head and offer maximum protection from injury, and from flying debris and wind. Three quarter helmets provide protection to the entire head, minus the face, and offer more ventilation to the face than the full face helmets. Half shell helmets provide the most ventilation and are the least constraining of all helmets. When it comes to picking the right helmet, it really depends on your personal preference and it’s up to you to decide which features we mentioned above are most important to you. Making the decision based on what you really want is going to make your riding experience more enjoyable in the long run.

When it comes to comfort when riding a aftermarket bike seat is a must. Motorcycle Seats are produced by a variety of manufacturers. The main ones being Sargent, Corbin and Mustang.

When choosing a motorcycle seat there are really two factors that come in to play. One is definitely the look of the seat on your bike and the other is the comfort level that can be achieved by the upgrade.

Most of your bike seats these days are made of a memory cell foam or some such material that is highly durable. It will actually almost act like a second shock absorber. I upgraded from my stock bench to a Corbin seat and it was a night and day difference.

Corbin Seats use a material called comfort cell foam which is built to be firm so even after hours of riding it wont sink, where your stock bench’s foam would loose firmness within 30 minutes and you would be sitting on the plastic pan that the bike seat is made from.

Sargent seats are either covered with leather or a synthetic material that is made to look like leather.

No matter what you ride Corbin will have a bike seat that is made to fit your bike. Almost all motor cycle manufacturers have a Corbin upgrade that will bolt right on available to them. This goes for cruisers as well as sport bikes alike.

Sargent motorcycle seats also come in a variety of flavors, however their selection tends to lean more towards sport bike owners then cruisers. Sargent also caters to the exotic bike owners.

Seats are available for makers like Aprilla and Ducati. This manufacturer uses a material called super cell foam in their seats which is designed to give incredible comfort even for long distance rides.

Not only does this manufacturer make one hell of a comfortable seat the quality and looks are also part of the package making this one of the premier makers of seats in the world.

Little things like synthetic material that imitates a carbon fiber look or the Italian flag being sown in to the front of the seat make this not only a comfortable bike seat but also a great looking upgrade that help give your bike a custom look.

Mustang motorcycle seats are mainly available for cruiser’s instead of sport bikes. Mustang manufactures many a motorcycle seat that is made to look like the old school bike seats that you would see on bikes from the 60′s, 70′s & 80′s. They are great if you are trying to achieve and old school look for your chopper.

Not only do they make the saddles they also make sissy bar pads and backrest. Mustang currently has motorcycle seats available for Harley Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and Victory Cycles. Mustang seats are made with special controlled-density foam therefore assuring riding comfort even on long rides.

When you do decide on a bike seat no matter who the manufacturer is it is always recommended that you find out about the manufacturers warranty. Also with some seats extra hardware is required to mount it on to your bike.

I think most important of all is that you get some feedback from others that have similar seats. You can find reviews online at different social sites that are geared towards bikers.

There are many ways to improve the looks of your bike. One of the easiest upgrades which usually improves the looks of your bike as well as the comfort of the ride for the rider and passenger alike is to get a new aftermarket motorcycle seat.

There are so many manufacturers of quality aftermarket motor cycle seats one is bound to carry a seat that will fit any American made or metric cruiser as well as sport bikes.

It seems more important to get a new seat or seat cover for a cruiser rather then a sports bike but if you have ever been on a sport bike the riding position is very aggressive so a comfortable motorcycle seat is vital to really enjoy your ride in the long run. Seat covers accessories are readily available for makes like, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Ducati, Aprillia, Benelli, Kawasaki, Harley Davidson, Victory and Honda just to name the motorcycle makers that I can think of.

Another way of improving the comfort of your bike for passengers is to get a sissy bar on your cruiser. This will allow the passenger to have a backrest instead of having to hold on to the rider.

Back rest inserts are also available for seats made by Corbin, Mustang and Sargent for both the rider and the passenger.

Seat covers filled with a gel like material are also another way to improve the comfort of rider and passenger alike. If you do decide to go with a sissy bar for your cruiser I would also recommend a sissy bar pad as another accessory.

You will find that some of your high end exotic bike makers will provide you with a fairly comfortable stock seat however you have to realize that companies like mustang do nothing but make seats so if you really want a quality seat that has been engineered and thoroughly thought thru you will find a company like Corbin, Mustang or Sargent have it down.

Their whole existence as a company revolves around making a quality seat where you motorcycle manufacturers will generally spend their time on engineering a highly tuned motor cycle that is aerodynamic, fast and reliable and not a comfortable seat.

Seat Covers are usually made to re cover your existing motorcycle seat. When you buy a seat cover to re cover your stock bench it will usually come with all the necessary materials to do it yourself. For example Sargent has seat covers available for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and BMW motor cycles.

Many of their covers are available in a classic or an upgraded version with several color choices for the bead as well as there being a choice on some covers to use a carbon fx vinyl insert. this is a material that is made to look like carbon fiber which is the equivalent of chrome on Harleys to sport bike riders.

So no matter what kind of bike you ride Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW or a nice American made bike like a Victory a seat upgrade is a worthwhile investment in the long term enjoyment of your ride.

If you have been looking at buying a motorized scooter and trying to decide which one would be right for you, then there are two main questions you need to answer:

1. Is it for leisure or for commuting to and from work?

2. How far will you be traveling?

When faced with the many different models of electric scooters, these questions will help you decide which one is right for you. Everything else depends on other factors like your journey and your preferences.

Electric scooters come in two types: Stand up and Sit down.

Average range is about 8 miles but this does depend on the terrain, weight of the passenger, strength of wind etc. Personally I’d go for the 350 watt electric motor scooters or above, as they have more power.

Important Points to remember about Motorized Scooters:

Fun Personal electric vehicles are great fun! You’ll get lots of positive attention, and lots of questions from passers-by.

Quiet Most electric scooters are nearly silent in operation, in fact most of the noise comes from the tyres moving on the road surface!

Clean No fumes, no smoke, no gas. You stay clean and so does the air around you. The batteries are good for several years and are 100% recyclable.

Reliable Electric scooters have far fewer moving parts than comparable fuel powered vehicles. Less moving parts = less to breakdown.

Efficient Operating costs for electric scooters are about 0.05% of the cost of operating comparable fuel powered vehicles.

Components All electric vehicles share common components. All have a battery or battery assembly, a motor, and electronic controllers to link them. The quality of these components will, in large part, determine the performance, durability, and reliability of the vehicle. In addition, these components must be matched to each other.

Before you buy your motorized scooter it’s always best to check out a review site to prevent you from making any costly mistakes.

That’s why at Best Electric Scooter Reviews we list the different types of motorized scooter available along with reviews from actual customers and users.

Just like so many industries these days the bike helmet industry is filled with many competitors. Many well established companies are making biker helmets today. Also new quality helmet makers are emerging on the scene.

Scorpion is probably the most notable. This company makes discount motorcycle helmets in a sense. I say this because the quality of the helmet that they produce would usually go for double from any other brand name manufacturer of biker helmet.

They are able to accomplish this by making all of the parts for their bike helmets in house where most of their competition buys all of the pieces that make up a helmet and then assemble them in their factories. By eliminating the middle man Scorpion saves a lot of money and can therefore offer their motorcycle helmets at a much cheaper price then their competitors.

Suomy motorbike helmets are another great quality helmet. These are usually a bit more expensive, however all of their products are made of the highest quality materials available in today’s market. Suomy is very well known in the racing circuit and also makes a lot replica helmets.

So if you want to wear the same helmet that your favorite motorbike racer wears Suomy will likely have a replica for you to purchase. Just to name a few of their replicas in there line you have a Capriossi, Bostrom or a Hodgson replica to choose from. That is just to name a few. Suomy bike helmets are extremely light weight and are therefore very popular. They are all DOT approved.

Many parents these days are taking their kids on the back of the bike which is a great way to get the next generation interested in riding when they get to be of age. In order to have kids on the back you will need to invest in a kids motorcycle helmet in order to assure their safety and to obey the law since all states require kids to have a kids helmet.

Afx makes several nice kids helmets as do a few other makers of helmets. The price of one of these is generally in the $40 to $100 range for a reasonably priced kids helmet.

Nolan another manufacturer makes a wide variety of motorbike helmets for all types of riders. They produce Full face as well as half face helmets. A vintage line is also available. Nolan is probably best known for their modular flip up models which allow you to flip up the entire front of full face helmet therefore making it no problem to take a drink or just popping the lid to get some air without having to take the helmet off and on all the time.

This feature seems trivial but if you are a biker that rides long distances you will quickly learn to appreciate this handy feature. Many other manufactures have also now adopted a modular model in to their product line.

Bell is another maker of fine quality motorbike helmets. They not only make products of this kind for the motorbike industry but also for bicyclist. They truly have a diverse offering of head protection for anything bike related whether it be motorized or powered by your own energy. Bell not wanting to leave anyone on wheels out also offers head gear for BMX and Skate Boarders.
