Ferrari was founded way back in 1929 but believe it or not the original plan wasn’t to produce road legal vehicles. In fact at the beginning Ferrari sponsored drivers and produced racing cars very much like they do today in Formula 1. Enzo Ferrari was very reluctant to design and manufacture a Ferrari that was road legal but over the past few decades it has enabled thousands of people to own and drive a supercar.

In recent years it has become easier in terms of affordability to own a Ferrari. This is mainly because more people have purchased a Ferrari and eventually these cars are sold onto the second hand car market. Don’t be fooled though second hand Ferraris are still more expensive than most new cars produced by other manufacturers even the likes of Mercedes Benz and Porsche. One of the most affordable Ferrari’s is the Modena priced at around £40,000 depending on the age and condition of the car. However certain pre-owned Ferrari’s have actually increased in price due to the limited number of models that were made. Used Ferrari’s don’t depreciate that much which is great news in some ways for second hand owners because you could sell the car a few years later with a limited amount of loss. If you’ve read my first article for New Car Dealers and Buy Here Pay Here, then you understand the idea of treating BHPH as a separate franchise, so I will assume that you are interested in learning more. This is my 2nd article in the series for new car dealers. Now let’s talk about some suggestions on where to locate your new BHPH franchise.

My first suggestion always is to put your BHPH location away from your new store completely. It prevents confusion for your people and customers.

To begin with, understand that you need to physically separate your inventory from your normal used car operation. The customers you will have, always want the best vehicle for their money. So, if the retail used car inventory is parked in the same row as your BHPH, they will want those vehicles and not the ones they can afford in your program. It is better not to set their standards too high to start with. This also helps your salespeople stay in the BHPH mental state with your customers.
