Following the end of the Second World War the famous vehicle manufacturer Renault was taken over by the French government and became the Regie Nationale des Usines Renault. The nationalisation came after the founder of the company, Louis Renault, was charged with collaboration with the German occupation forces. Louis was to die in jail prior to his trial.

The new publicly owned company was headed by Pierre Lafaucheux and immediately made an impact in the peace time motoring market. The 4CV model proved popular, fighting off the challenge of foreign rivals such as the VW Beetle and Morris Minor, staying in production until 1961. I have owned many different vehicles in my life and did not begin customizing them with rims and tires until around 2006. My first set of custom rims were a set of 24 inch rims that I put on my 2006 Dodge Charger. I fell in love so quickly that I have never had a car or truck without rims on it ever since.

I think what I love about riding around on over sized rims and tires so much is the attention and stares that they garner. There is just something about having a set of big chrome wheels on your car that makes people stop and stare. However, about two months into enjoying my rims I began to notice that there were certain things about having rims on my car that were not so beneficial to the overall performance of my vehicle.

On of the first problems that I began to notice was that the wheel well on my car was far too small for the size rims that I had placed on it. I could not continue to ride around on these rims every day. The solution was to simply drive more carefully. I could not go over as many speed bumps and I had to be very weary of pot holes.
