By servicing your vehicle accordingly you can help to ensure your engine is running at the optimum level. It is important to look after your cars tyres as well by regularly checking the amount of tread and the air pressure in line with the guidance in your cars handbook. Unfortunately for British manufacturers they are lagging behind their European counterparts in Portugal, Spain and Denmark. Some of the car manufacturers have cut emissions by around five times more than the worst performing manufacturers which is a huge amount considering the need for each EU country to reduce the amount of CO2 their cars are emitting.
BMW are doing especially well from the cars that were sold during 2008 with them cutting emission levels by over 10% (the only manufacturer to hit double figures). One of the reasons they have done so well is that they have introduced efficiency methods into all their ranges. This is something that environmentalists are all urging other manufacturers to do in an attempt to reduce the average emission levels. Continue reading ‘Fuel Efficient Motors’ »

A car canopy, also known as a carport, is used when you need an extra storage space for your vehicles and boats. It is an excellent extra resource for protecting vehicles against the bad effects of the elements such as the sun, rain or snow. Other debris that can commonly be found in a parking area such as leaves, cones or tree saps can be safely kept off your vehicle with the use of a car canopy. Plus, it is not just for vehicles. You also can use it for other purposes such as an outdoor event or for creating an extra shaded area on grass and concrete.
A lightweight, open-sided structuring is best for a car canopy or carport that is intended for temporary storage of a vehicle. You can also choose one which has fully enclosed sides like a tent if you want to have extra protection. Both of these types of car canopies and carports can give a cooling effect to your car, preserving its finish. A good one should be able to give you years of protection and can withstand the wear and tear that is brought on by the ultraviolet rays of the sun. When a country like ours experiences a sudden downturn economically people become quite desperate. Those who have little regard for the law and the property of others quickly turn to theft to provide an income. Automobiles are easy targets for today’s thieves. Cars can be resold. They can be stripped of valuable devices such as stereo systems, DVD players, and GPS systems, and these items are fenced easily. Cars also can be cutup for parts and sold to parts warehouses. It is easy to see why an automotive security system like Tenon car alarms is in great demand.
Y.T.Tenon Electronic Technology of Guangzhou, China, was established in 1991 as a specialized maker of car alarms and parking sensors. The company was the first to develop and produce two-way automobile security alarms in mainland China in 1998. They produce high quality security and sensor products through a system of experienced engineers and quality control experts. Continue reading ‘Tenon Car Alarms – Cutting Edge Car Security’ »

Being “Green” is beneficial to everyone and there are simple methods to take to ensure you are doing your bit for the world as well as cutting your driving costs each month.
If you are in the process of looking for a new car then consider buying one that will emit less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. CO2 is a major problem which world leaders are trying to tackle, devising ways of reducing the amount produced by the countries which cause the most damage. Cars are graded according to their CO2 output and this should be considered when considering your next new or used car purchase. Continue reading ‘Be Clean, Drive Green’ »

To many, there is nothing more exhilarating than the thrill of driving down the open road with the top down, hair blowing in the wind, listening to the sheer roar of engine power. With the increasing popularity of convertibles, many manufacturers have adapted some of their basic sedans and now offer them with a convertible option. The biggest problem that this poses is making the convertible safe to drive, without the strength of the roof struts etc, especially if involved in roll-over accidents, when the roof plays an important part in the rigidity of the body.
Many manufacturers have embraced the problem and come up with innovative safety ideas, including using stronger materials in the body and floor to absorb more of the shock if there is an accident. Some are manufactured with an extra strong frame around the windshield which acts as a kind of safety roll bar. A rear fitted roll bar is also sometimes evident to help protect passengers in the rear of the car. Continue reading ‘Convertibles – A Shopping Guide’ »

Analyse the needs of the prospective owner, which might be you or someone you are buying for, and how much you have available to spend, then start doing your homework.
The internet is one of the best places to start your research as there are a wealth of sites and tools available. You should gauge what to buy, where from and how much to pay before you extend your search to the garage forecourts and showrooms in your area. To do this you could read manufacturer and owner reviews, look at valuation sites and also dealer sites, to see what offers and promotions are running.
Finally, once you have decided on the what, where and how much, you are recommended to check up on the dealer you have chosen in a little more detail, for example by checking if they are a member of any trade bodies such as the Retail Motor Industry Federation.
Some garages offer different vehicle checks and warranties or guarantees, do not be afraid to benchmark these offerings and compare and contrast to other suppliers. If necessary you could also use these extras as parts of your negotiations tactic however do consider that some products are optional, often there are exceptions to consider and extra costs may be associated in certain circumstances. Rally cars is a type of car that is has been built to math the requirements posed by the FIA. This is an association that sets rules for the WRC or World Rally Championship.
Before it can be considered as a “rally car”, it first has to follow the specifications presented. It should have a production run of a minimum of 2500 units. There should be no greater than 2.0 litres of engine. It should be a four-wheel drive with sequential gearbox and aerodynamic mechanisms and parts. There are also a lot of things to consider but if you want your car transformed into something just like this, you might want to do the following.
Step 1: If you don’t have a car yet, you can choose those types of cars that are famous for their smooth sharp curve rounding ups like Honda Civic and Ford Focus. You can also use your car and lower its suspension system so it defies gravity and will enable it to turn those sharp corners with ease.
Step 2: Get your car new set of high performance tires. In a rally, the road conditions are diverse and a difficult challenge is cut out for you. Be ready by choosing tires that can withstand wears. If you are in it to win, you need to choose those with the best quality and those that are sticky and enable you to traverse fluidly. Continue reading ‘How to Make a Rally Car’ »

Driving into town usually entails listening to the radio, thinking about what I have to get done, and wishing red lights would take a day off. Today in a strange twist of fate my radio could only find bad songs and bad opinions so I did something different. I turned the radio off and glanced through my passenger side window, only for a second, as I was admittedly moving and really did not want the car insurance rates that come with a wreck. That is when it happened. The lesson had begun.
Driver number 1: “The maniacal lipstick car destroyer.”
Yes it is true, while driving 40 miles per hour a woman thought that applying lipstick was an appropriate project to undertake. Being in the insurance industry and knowing the damage an out of control car can do at 40mph I hit the gas to get out of the way. I was speeding sure, but I saved my car insurance company from paying a claim. Besides, she may have had more makeup to put on. So I was safely on my way. Or so I thought.
