Fuel pumps in fuel injected vehicles are mounted inside the gas tank. It’s a major job to replace it and these pumps are expensive. So before you replace one, you better do your homework. I’ve seen too many DIY mechanics make the assumption that their engine running problems are due to a bad pump. Several hundred dollars later, they still have the same problem.

If your diagnostics lead you to believe you have a fuel pump problem, here’s the proper way to check out the pump. First, perform a fuel pressure test. You’ll need a fuel pressure gauge and the adapters to fit your vehicle. Some auto parts stores rent this test gear. You’ll also need the specs for your vehicle. Check out a printed or online shop manual for those. Continue reading ‘Testing a Fuel Pump’ »

Back in the 70′s and 80′s, movies like Smokey and the Bandit, Breaker Breaker and Convoy spawned a craze of outrageous and sometimes risque call signs (or handles), that truckers and haulage companies used like their own private language. Mobile phones have all but put an end to the CB phenomenon, but around the world there are still some die-hard ‘Rubber Duckies’ haunting the haulage companies’ airwaves and doing it their way!

Call signs usually come about from someone’s appearance, a funny incident on the road, a personality trait (or defect!) or a drivers surname. Usually in the delivery work industry, a nickname or call sign is decided for you by mate or fate and you don’t have a say, and is designed to give everyone else a huge laugh at your expense! So we reckon it’s time to jump on the bandwagon and make your delivery work more fun by checking out a few of our oldies, goldies (and a few downright strange ones!) and getting inspired to think up your own to make fun of your mates! Go on – you know you want to! Continue reading ‘Haulage Companies – Top Funniest Call Signs’ »

In order to work to its full potential, your off road winch requires regular inspection and maintenance. If you neglect basic maintenance, you could end up with expensive repairs or the cost of a new winch altogether. For the best performance, you should clean, inspect, and service your winch on a regular basis.

If your winch is caked with mud and left that way after riding, it will deteriorate much faster than one that’s cleaned after every muddy or wet ride. If you want to keep your winch working for you, you’re going to need to put a little effort into maintenance. The more you use it, the more often you will need to clean and service it. When it comes to cars, nothing is quite as eye-catching as a model that doesn’t take itself too seriously, that knows how to have fun without sacrificing safety and comfort and that can turn its hand (or indeed wheel) to any situation.

If you’re bored of the run of the mill hatchbacks and samey superminis, it’s time to look to a manufacturer that you might have overlooked. Certainly it’s not a name that springs to mind instantly, but once you’ve been behind the wheel of one of their models, you may never look back! Continue reading ‘Give a Warm Welcome to the Kia’ »

You have come to this article to determine if it is worth the money to buy a laser/radar detector. For many people out there they think that they can just keep an eye out and they will be fine. However, from personal experience that will not always work. I have done just that and to my great suprise I ended up with a ticket. The problem with trying to “look out” for cops is that you are eventually going to get distracted or slip up. And even if you say you don’t speed there are still going to be those times where you unknowingly go a little bit fast.

The fact of the matter is that you are going to get yourself into a position where you can be pulled over and given a ticket. Lets just hope there are no cops around to give you one. That is more likely with the economy in the position that it is and cities struggling with money the police force is getting more nosie and strict when it comes to speeding. There are a lot more cops on the road in most places and they are looking for some much needed money for the state.
